Raub Family Fun Night

Hundreds of students and their families attended the Family Fun Night event at Raub Middle School on March 17, 2016. This was a big success!. There was a wide variety of games and activities for the families to engage in. The school even offered free ice cream floats to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Allentown School District. Apparently this coincides with the year 1866, when ice cream floats were invented. There was free pizza, hot dogs and drinks. There was a huge game area in the large gym, including an obstacle course. All the way down the hallways and in some of the classrooms were games and informational tables.
Our club volunteers staffed the bingo games, which were held in the small gym towards the rear of the school. The area was a bit isolated, so it took some time for families to find us. We started out slowly, with just a few participants. Bingo-callers Belinda Gray, Joyce Crosby and Susan Martin did a terrific job all evening. Our other volunteers, Enos Martin, Young Chang and Tom Harp manned a table with information about the new Builder’s Club we are chartering at Raub.
We raffled off a baseball-themed gift basket to lure parents and students to our table. We had informational brochures about Builder’s Clubs, and giveaways like pencils and bookmarks. Several students signed up, and others expressed interest. This is just one of many opportunities we will have to promote the Builder’s Club with Raub students. By the end of the evening, the bingo hall was packed, and everyone had a good time. Thanks to all of our volunteers, and to Todd Siegfried who donated a very nice gift basket which was one of the many “door prizes” at the event.
