Our annual Allentown Kiwanis Day at the IronPigs game was where we gathered. Thirty Kiwanis members, their family and friends enjoyed the amenities of a Dugout Suite in watching the ‘Pigs take on the Syracuse Chiefs. Big Bob, aka Taco Bob Ashcraft organized the outing and had the privilege of representing our group by throwing a ceremonial first pitch. We were ready to heckle Bob, but he threw a nice pitch right over the plate. We enjoyed a nice buffet inside the suite, which included hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, roast beef, ziti, salads, fruit and cookies. People alternated sitting in the steamy stands and seeking refuge in the air-conditioned suite. The Phillie Phanatic was the featured promotion, and he did not disappoint with his many amusing antics. The game was a back and forth battle, going 13 innings when, alas, the ‘Pigs fell to the Chiefs, 5-4. A great time was had by all!
