Children's Christmas party

Our club hosted a Christmas Party for nearly 120 pre-school children from three Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers on Friday, December 5, 2014. The party was held at the South Mountain Center, and was a HUGE success! Club members Rich Peterson, Todd Siegfried, Paul Eichman, Bob Ashcraft, and Tom Harp helped out along with six Allen H.S. Key Club members and their faculty advisors Mary DiFebo and Stacy Vandergrift. It took those volunteers and MORE to handle the amazing number of 3-5 year old kids who attended the party. LVCC teachers and parent volunteers all pitched in.
We started by preparing a nice lunch for the children- chicken nuggets, carrot sticks and juice boxes. We bought 20 pounds of nuggets and ran out! Next year we will buy an extra bag. Those kids could really chow down. After lunch the kids were treated to a magic show with professional magician Eddie Ray. This was the second year we hired Eddie for a performance, and he did not disappoint. The children loved his magic act and roared with laughter. Then, the children were shuffled back to the main activity room to be delighted with a special visit by Santa! The kids lined up and all had an opportunity to sit next to Santa and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. With over 100 children, it is was a minor miracle that Santa was able to spend time with each child within our party schedule. Each child received a gift bag from Santa’s “elves” – our Key Club volunteers. It was a fun party that ended with smiles on all the little one’s faces.
