Cleaning LVCC

This project was a HUGE success as members Tom Harp. Enos Martin and Vic Mazziotti joined other volunteers from Kiwanis Division 18 at the United Way Day of Caring, Thursday, September 10, 2015. Division 18 volunteers had a wonderful time at the Lehigh Valley Children’s Center (LVCC) Union Boulevard site. We got a lot done. Our team of 10 volunteers was greeted by LVCC CEO Susan Williams upon our arrival at 9:00 AM. She thanked us for our service and we enjoyed some coffee and donuts. We then broke into three groups. Renee Weatherhold (Emmaus), Linda Salter (Emmaus), Vic Mazziotti and Tom Harp cleaned windows and signs in the front of the building. Jeff Rose (Allentown NE), Deb Carey (Emmaus) and Jerry Round (Emmaus) assembled shelves and reorganized a storage room. Rich Durant (Emmaus), Cathy Kane (Allentown NE) and Enos Martin cleaned out and reorganized the basement. We filled at least four dumpsters with junk and trash. We also cleaned up the laundry room and vacuumed entrance mats.
The folks from United Way stopped by with lunches donated by Wegmans in reusable thermal bags. We also received gift bags from LVCC, which included “thank you” cards personalized by the children there. All in all it was a very productive, and FUN day! We should all be proud of our Division 18 Kiwanis TEAM! It was a great way for our division to observe Kiwanis’ 100th Anniversary.
